Popovych’s scientific interests cover philosophy of science, logic and methodology of scientific cognition, history of culture. He has worked out the conceptual and formal analysis techniques for scientific theories, the language of science, development of modern logic and natural history with allowance for the cultural and historical context of scientific studies. He has formulates the concept of spiritual activity structures that takes into account the results of psychology of thinking, structural linguistics, ethnology, history of culture and the theory of communication. Popovych was the first to cover the worldview origins of the spiritual formation of the Ukrainian people.
Popovych is the author of more than 300 scientific works, including 17 monographs. He speaks Polish, German, English, French and Czech. In 1985-1990, Popovych was the Head of the Philosophical Society of Ukraine, since 1990 — its President.
