Biography

In 1975-1984, Yadov was the Head of the Sociology Department of the Institute of Social and Economic Problems. In 1988-2000, he was the Director of the Institute of Sociology of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, since 2000 — the chief researcher, the Head of the Center for Theoretical and Historical and Sociological Research, since 1995 — the Dean of the School of Sociology of the Institute of Sociological Education at the Republican Center for Humanitarian Education.

Yadov is one of the founders of Leningrad sociology school, the author of the dispositional theory of an individual’s social behavior regulation. He is a specialist in theoretical sociology, theory and methodology of sociological studies, sociology of labor, sociology and social psychology, sociology of science. His scientific interests also cover classical and modern theory of social changes, theoretical approaches to analysis of post-communist transformations.

Yadov is the author of more than 300 scientific publications, including the first in the USSR textbook on the methodology of sociological studies titled Methodology and Procedures of Sociological Research. He is an expert at the international and Russian scientific foundations, particularly the Center for Social Sciences and Documentation in Vienna (Austria).
