Main areas of scientific interest: transitional economy, financial improvement of economy of Poland, overcoming consequences of the financial and economic crisis. Leszek Balcerowicz is the author of the program of radical economic transformation of Poland from the socialistic system of economic management to the market one, known as “shock therapy” or “Balcerowicz Plan”.

Leszek Balcerowicz is a member of the Polish Economic Society and the Polish Sociological Society.
