Biography

At the beginning of his career, he was a sociologist-africanist studying economical issues of the developing countries in Africa. In late 1960s, he started creating the general theory of social and economic development. His world-system theory triggered immense interest to the global history, and contributed to the birth of the historical globalization.

Immanuel Wallerstein is the author of 20 books, and 300 articles.
