Yakovenko’s scientific interests cover radiophysics, plasma electronics, physics of semiconductors. He focuses on the problems of generation, strengthening, expansion and non-linear interaction between electromagnetic waves in solids. He has formulated the classical and quantum theory of interaction between electromagnetic fields and charged particles in irregular plasma of solids, two-dimensional electron gas, layered periodic structures.

Yakovenko is the author of more than 300 scientific publications, including three monographs.
