How “Merited Lecturer of Karazin University” title is awarded.

The honorary title “Merited Lecturer of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University” is awarded to the faculty members who have been working in their main position at the University for at least 25 years, have the academic title of full or associate professor, have authored (co-authored) at least one textbook or a study guide at the recommendation of the University Academic Board, 30 scientific, educational and methodological papers published in professional journals, have prepared at least three PhDs, and have made a significant contribution to the training of specialists in the relevant field.

Nominations for awarding the honorary title are annually submitted by the Academic Boards of the structural subdivisions to the University Academic Secretary, as a rule, before December 15 of the current year.

The nominations are reviewed by the Award Committee established by the University President’s order. After the thorough review, the Committee submits summarized propositions to the University President as to the awarding of the honorary title. In case of positive secret ballot by a simple majority of votes, the Committee submits them for consideration to the University Academic Board.

The Academic Board approves the decision on awarding the honorary title once a year, as a rule, on the occasion of the anniversary of the University foundation. The decision is made by secret ballot and is considered approved in case of the positive ballot by two-thirds of those present at the meeting of the Board.

The persons awarded the honorary title receive a diploma and an award pin, and their  names are recorded in “The Book of Merited Professors, Lecturers, Researchers of Kharkiv University”, which is stored in the University History Museum.
