Leonid Pastur is a mathematician and theoretical physicist, an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, a laureate of the USSR State Prize in science and technology. His scientific interests cover a wide range of issues related to modern mathematics, mathematical physics, and theoretical physics.

He is one of the founders of spectral theory of random and almost periodic operators, which is a section of mathematics and mathematical physics that is developing rapidly all over the world and is widely used. The scientist’s widely known achievements worth mentioning are self-consistent equation for density of states and a detailed study of the properties of universality of local statistics of energy levels, and a series of results in theory of disordered magnetics.

Leonid Pastur is actively cooperating with the international scientific community. He is a member of the editorial boards of the Ukrainian Mathematical Journal, Low Temperature Physics journal, and repeatedly participated in national and international committees, and commissions. Leonid Pastur was the Head of the Foundation for Fundamental Research in Ukraine, and a member of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Mathematical Physics.
