Biography

In 1954, Kosevich defended his PhD thesis “To the Theory of Magnetic Susceptibility of Thin Metal Spheres at Low Temperatures” and in 1964 — his doctoral thesis “Some Issues of the Theory of Inelastic Crystal Deformation”. Since 1967, he was a Full Professor, since 1990 — Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Kosevich’s scientific interests focus on the electronic theory of metals, physics of condensed state of liquids, dynamics of crystal lattice, theory of dislocation and dot defects in solids, non-linear dynamics of magnetization in magnetic crystals. In cooperation with Mikhail Lifshitz, he thoroughly analyzed magnetic quantum oscillations, founded the school of theoretical physicists studying linear and nonlinear dynamics of condensed media.

Kosevich is the author of more than 250 works on theoretical physics, including monographs for undergraduate and postgraduate students. He heads the Section of the Scientific Board on Solid State Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. He is a member of two thesis committees, the International Society for Interaction of Mechanics and Mathematics (ISIMM), an assistant of the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Physics of Low Temperatures.
